Is Dawn Butler panicking?

Following the news about Dawn Butler’s controversial expense claims, including a rather daming BBC report, a statement briefly appeared on her website which has now been pulled. Doubtless due to the poor quality writing. But it does all rather have the whiff of panic about it don’t you think?

Maybe someone should ask Barack Obama when he is over next week what he thinks Dawn should do? After all wasn’t it her website that also contained an endorsement from him? Is it still on there?

As they are such good friends, and he will be over here next week, maybe Dawn should show Mr Obama why she needs to claim her allowance? As he will be at the Excel Centre he could pop on the DLR, meet Dawn at Canning Town (one stop down the line from her Stratford home) and then the two of them could travel together on the Jubilee Line to Brent.

A round trip would probably take about an hour, and I am sure if the President asks nicely Dawn would put the £5.40 it would cost on a Oyster card for him.

I am shocked. Shocked and horrified. That screenshot scares me.

It shows that Mark is using Internet Explorer for his browsing.

My opinion plummets. You can’t claim website testing for that Mark, and that’s the only excuse I can think of…

This explanation makes things worse though.

Basically she got a wedge of taxpayers money to renovate a cheap house for which she can now pocked the capital gain (I know there is CGT but there are ways to minimise that)

I reckon £37k is the equivlant of an extra £61k on salary over two years for a higher rate taxpayer.
