“It is my job to see that Cameron f****** well gets into Downing Street” – Sun’s political editor

Full marks for frankness if not for political independence:

“It is my job to see that Cameron f****** well gets into Downing Street,” proclaimed Tom Newton Dunn, political editor of the Sun, to a group of journalists from rival papers, recently.

“James, and his number two in London, Rebekah Brooks—a key confidant of the Murdoch children who was also involved in the confrontation with Kelner—had convinced the elder Murdoch, long sympathetic to Labour Party leader, Gordon Brown, to let them endorse the conservative leader, David Cameron, in the race. ”

The Fox News tycoon was finding it difficult to decide which of the conservative parties to support. Tricky.

Shame that The Sun’s online poll of readers has Clegg winning the second (SKY) debate by about 10 points, rather contradicting their claims that Cameron had won…….
