The LDV Saturday caption competition: “Ed Davey in fete worse than death” edition

There’s no prize at stake – just the opportunity to prove you’re wittier than any other LDV reader …

Here’s Ed Davey, Lib Dem Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (to give him his full title), in the stocks at a school fete last week. What do you think he might have been saying or thinking?

The winner of our most recent caption competition, the “Chris and Evan open the floodgates” edition – according to The Voice’s judging panel of one – was this one by Tim Leunig.

Got a photo of a proiminent Lib Dem you think would work well for a future caption competition? Then please email us at .

“Well, Nick said we can’t apologise publically for the budget, but he suuggested we should take a bit of punishment in our constituencies as long as people promise to vote for us again…”

“All I said was we are not really “all in this together”.”

Headline- “Condem u-turn on the abolition of local justice not all it seems”.

Radical treatment given to lib-dems in bid to stop them applauding Squire Cameron (he is finding it a tad grating now).

NHS cuts lead to radical alternatives to psychotropic medication.

“Cameron uses range of techniques to keep coalition in line”
Davey: “ok, ok, I promise to vote for the rise in VAT”
Davey: “You think I look ridiculous? This is nothing, I am dressing up as a nun this afternoon for the Chessington panto”

PS Cheltenham Robin – I assure you, it was Tories who were parting with a fiver a time to throw sponges at Ed!

ED: “This is what happens to politicians who incur the disapproval of the North American elite.”

    Or

ED: “The North American elite, through its puppet UK media, has ensured that elected politicians are unable to fight for their constituents because it has manipulated the public into regarding them as figures of contempt.”

    or

ED: “It would take more than Frank Luntz to make me Leader of the Liberal Democrats after this!”
