Thought about the PPB that went beforehand: Osborne looked like a very scared rabbit squinting slightly. And he actually looked like he doubted the autoprompter at the end as he stuttered through “The… Conservatives? are… on your side.”

    So…

George Osborne goes into a tirade about the government that sounds almost like he knows what he’s talking about – until he says that across the whole world, in a difficult economic time, only Labour has put up taxes… “As far as I know.” Why not just wear a neon sign saying ‘Please, sir, the dog ate my homework and I just made it all up’?

Then Nicola Horlick answers “I don’t want to talk about the politics…” Well, then, how about talking off the mike and giving back your large fee? For goodness’ sake! Don’t come on a politics show, then.

Can’t the British Whinge? It’s interesting that the Tories keep sounding more and more strident though. Osbourne is going to lose it at some point this evening I suspect…

Charles just hit the nail on the head re: education.

Following on from the superb Shirley last week, two consecutively superb Lib Dem performances on QT; added to Nick’s brilliant speech on Sunday and budget response, it’s been a suprisingly good 7 days!

For a business person (as opposed to a politician, which is how I read her opening comment) Nicola was pretty much on our side on the issues.

Certainly on the economy she sounded more like Vince Cable – too much debt, not enough savings and the need to have an internationalist view on East vs West. Also interstingly on Education and Iraq…
