I missed the opportunity to Congratulate Chris earlier but will congratulate him now that his party is part of the coalition government. Being here in Uganda, I was not inspired by Brown's regime, i'm not suprised that it did go through to govern this time round.

Chris and a group of friends visited the Rwenzoris in Uganda in February 2008, before he became the director of policy and communications of the Liberal party. while in the Rwenzoris they donated of 5000$ to a local education charity, JCF based in Fort Portal. On behalf of the charity, I would like to say congratulations, and we can hope for a better policy on development assistance to developing countries, one that will help African realise their own potential.

I corresponded with Baroness Scott about the special difficulties that can be expected in achieving the implementation of the Emergency Coalition Budget, in view of the extraordinary number of powerful interest groups who will be adversely affected and likely to resist it..
She advised me that Chris Fox in his capacity as our Director of Policy & Communications
was the man to whom I should voice my concerns. Hence this enquiry to ask if Chris shares my view
and if so what new ways of presentation and persuasion are needed and how are they to be developed.
Best wishes Ben Aston

Excellent choice. Great mix of commerical and political background. Worked with him during last General Election campaign when he headed up the media monitoring. Provided very good ammo for us on a range of complaints against broadcasters.

Hope he manages to make the role work really successfully, my feeling is that in recent times the DofC job spec has sometimes fallen between a number of stools.

I worked with Chris in Windsor in the run up to 1997 and he was excellent.
He worked well with everyone no matter what wing of the party they were from.
He understands what makes the party tick and got stuck in.
I think this is an excellent appointment and I wish him all the best.

"He was also chair of the advisory board of Liberal Future, the market liberal think tank"

It did little thinking and tanked quite heavily. Pretty much the predecessor of Liberal Vision as a five day wonder.

I thought Chris was personally a decent enough bloke when I've met him - but this is someone whose record on policy within the party is of being on the extremes rather than the mainstream.

Great news, he's a real big hitter with serious professional expertise and credibility. A very courageous appointment by Lord Rennard.
