Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe confirms: “I’ll be voting Lib Dem”

It was last summer that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe first indicated he would be backing the Lib Dems at the election, coming out as a party supporter in an interview in Attitude magazine.

Now, it seems, Daniel’s endorsement is official according to the Daily Prophet Mail:

In next month’s US edition of Vogue, Radcliffe – who will be able to vote for the first time at the General Election – discusses his affiliation to the party. ‘I’ll be voting Lib Dem, without a shadow of a doubt,’ he said. ‘Nick Clegg rang me and we had a good chat. He’s seriously impressive.’

A Lib Dem spokesman said: ‘We are delighted to have Daniel as a supporter and it’s great he has said he is going to vote for the Lib Dems. Daniel’s fanbase reaches far and wide, young and old.’

Lib Dems have always known we’re the party of Gryffindor. The real question is: which of Labour or the Tories is most like Slytherin?

It’s a two wizard race – everyone knows that Slytherin can’t win round here.

I’m hoping this means accio voters for the party. I’d rather people didn’t mindlessly support us just because Daniel does, but if it means people actually look at our principles and policies – well, we all know that our message is popular when it’s heard!

Does anybody know if he’s actually a party member yet?

Can I officially be the first one to suggest him as a future candidate for Mayor of London?

Not because I think it would be a particularly good idea, I don’t. Too young, too little experience. Obviously.

But simply because I know something with bandwagon potential when I see it, and it’d be nice to not be fighting for one of the last seats for a change…
