Jonathan Calder last night broke the news (well to me, anyway) that Irfan Ahmed has had to pull his blog permanently following further outrageous comments.
The final para of the Pendle local newspaper story is apposite:
The comments are not the opinion of the LibDems and neither has anything on my blog ever had anything to do with the view of the LibDems in Pendle or across the UK.
Well, quite.

Irfan was a reckless blogger who rarely put his brain in gear before throwing some really quite serious accusations about (he once accused me of being in league with extremists, and was the first to go off half-cocked after Dale’s post-smeargate accusations of stalking). It was only a matter of time before this behaviour caught up with him.
British Liberalism was originally an ideology invented by Christians. As time went by many seculists also identified as Liberals.
In today’s multicultural society it is to be hoped that a Liberal Hinduism, a Liberal Buddhism and a Liberal Islam will emerge, and indeed many other religions as well. To some extent that has happened already.
The difficulty that Irfan seemed to have is that he believed that only a strict, literal interpretation of Islam should be considered true Islam, and of course it is hard to square the circle of a legal system that permits cruel punishments to Liberalism.
That said I hope that Irfan will continue that conversation with himself and others

It’s funny because Islam was actually the most liberal religion before it got twisted up into this mess that it is now. They also back in the days treated their slaves a lot better than the Christians and a good piece of history to understand how actually Christianity was actually the more blood thirsty, empirical and oppressive religion is to read about the history of the Alahambra that was built by the North African Moors in Southern Spain.
The Islam’s used to educate their slaves but the Christians didn’t and seeked to create this concept of power and worship by building all these Churches in Spain when they defeated the Moors.
The Alahambra was created through mathematical equations and very much design with the concept of creating piece, quite similar in a way to how Machu Picchu was created.
