This is an absolute outrage. If BAE bribed Saudi Officials it is a matter for the British Courts in the same way as if I a UK resident was to break into my neighbour's house and steal his new TV. It has nothing to do with the US and they should be told to [expletive deleted]. Also the US Dept. of Justice should be renamed Dept. of Retribution as the sentences for non violent financial crime are savage in the extreme and the conditions in US Prisons appalling with unsanitary conditions and poor food with male inmates subject to sexual abuse and rape from inmates and warders.

I would very much expect this issue to have been top of the agenda of the meeting between Mr Bush and Mr Brown in Washington this week.

No doubt, Mr Bush will move to squash this inquiry, just as he has covered up all other wrongdoing and corruption in his own administration by refusing to fire his attorney general, "consiglieri" Alberto Gonzales.

This seems quite scandalous. What I think has to be kept in mind is that it contribtutes to the larger picture of Gordon Brown's foreign policy to come: Will the UK's relationship with the US remain "special" or will it gradually decline? Brown's visit to Merkel instead of seeing Bush first might be an indication of future orientation. The Atlantic Community has an overview over some media statements and is looking for comments:
