Iain Dale: the finest and most impartial political commentator in the world

Thus speaks wise and wonderful Iain

Since David Cameron became leader, he has tried to avoid the European issue dominating political debate. It is only the European constitution that has encouraged him to speak. He – alone among the three party leaders – has re-committed his party to holding a referendum on the European reform treaty.

But he has been outgunned by the Lib Dems, who have refused to offer a referendum on the treaty and instead have said there should be a referendum on EU membership itself, to settle the issue once and for all.

Warning: this post may contain irony 🙂

I can think of 10,606 reasons why David Cameron shouldn’t listen to Iain Dale

    Iain@4

Perhaps not you yourself, but I’ve seen too many third-party references in the press along the lines of “influential/ respected / famous political blogger Iain Dale says Lib Dem leadership candidates/ MPs/ policies are clueless/ doomed/ unworkable” (delete where inappropriate) without a hint that partisan axes are grinding. Hence the irony.

I notice you don’t object to “finest”!

  • Interestingly, on News 24 yesterday one of their staff apologised for the BBC’s failure to describe Iain’s Tory links when introducing him when he appeared on the channel to do a paper review.
