It's in Beta folks. Conservative Home and indeed Labour Home and even Liberal Conspiracy - which are the nearest comparators - don't go much for linking to opposition blogs. Unlike say LDV, myself, Dale, GuF and so on and so forth. So, if we accept that CH is a strong model and the other two ain't bad, then not engaging in a chummy way (or at all) with the opposition blogs is hardly unprecedented.

Inevitably Derek is doing a fair impression of a shouty curmudgeon, behaving more like a new personality blogger than the humble host/impressario of a new group blog, and engaging a lot in a hostile way with anyone who challenges him. Danger of coming over all MPFC Black Knight.

I can forgive that if things settle down and if the substantive content continues to improve. Derek should stop being the story on LL and consider doing a personality/attack blog somewhere else.

Sunder Katwala was good on Gaza I thought. And Dougie Alexander and Ben Wegg-Prosser today are also offering (ahem) Progress. All three less yahboo.

This is all par for the course for Draper. He graduated in Manchester a couple of years before me and I remember him coming back to address the Labour Club at the height of his glory (i.e. before Drapergate).

His favourite topic of conversation was how much he enjoyed Trot-baiting and how he had once outraged a bunch to such an extent that they attempted him to throw him out of the window - he was left dangling out of a second story being held on by his feet.

Perhaps he should have "don't feed the troll" stapled to his forehead...
