Lembit and Nick in Grauniad’s most well-read top 10

The Guardian published the list of the top 10 most-read UK politics stories which appeared on its website in 2008…

Good news: two stories featuring Lib Dems are among their number. What greater tribute could there be to the interest the public has in the party?

Bad news: the stories were 1. Lembit and the Cheeky Girl split, and 8. Nick Clegg tells GQ of his sex encounters.

Ach well.

I think this validates everything I’ve been saying about those to, no?

All it says, correctly, is that most people care more about sex than politics.

    Maybe.

But they are handpicked for “interest” – even from the “most read” group.

And they have those &^%%$$ popover ads that demand you click before you can read the piece. Bah.

I wonder whether *politicians* care about sex more than politics? Perhaps it depends on (or tells us) how much sex they aren’t getting ;-) .

And the Guardian Politics section only has 700k “unique users” from the UK, so these are not very big numbers.

Should have added that most of the “most read” stories are under the “Politics” hierarchy on the website, which is why I have quoted those figures. That is an assumption.

If the Lib Dems can get to the headlines only with sex, maybe you should talk more about sex.

Liberal Democrat Voice is an independent, collaborative website run by Liberal Democrat activists, where any individual inside or outside the party can express their views. Views expressed on this website are those of the individuals who express them and may not reflect those of the party.
