Lib Dem peers tipped as next Attorney General

M’Lords Carlisle and Lester are in the running to replace the egregious Lord Goldsmith as Attorney General…

… according to that most reliable of news sources, the Sunday Mirror.

I have to say I’d be a bit disappointed if Tony Lester took the job, having seemingly spent ten years fighting against this government’s omissions in equality law and so on. But, given the compromised relationship between Goldsmith and Number 10 we’ve seen over the past six years, perhaps it *would* be a good thing for a lawyer not in the party of government to be their legal adviser. As to Alex Carlisle though, I can’t help feeling that he’s actually been too close to discussions about terrorism measures.

There is no “s” in Carlile.

I agree with Jock. All best left alone. Without a coalition agreement then it would seem on the face of it that we are merely doing Labour’s bidding, rather than implementing Liberal Democrat policies.
