“Clegg said his party would try to counter growing support for independence by pledging more power for Holyrood”.
So what will he do to counter growing support for an English Parliament?
I wish he’d stop going on about families. He’s starting to sound like Don Liberali. Otherwise, some nice sentiment about empowerment and equality and sorting out tax credits and opportunity for all and stuff. Lets hope he follows through on it all consistently, and doesn’t backpedal and obfuscate depending on who he’s talking to…
Also, DUDES, no music at all would be better than a sub-par rip off of the Globelink News theme!
Still, positive coverage from Auntie Beeb: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7165397.stm
I like him “going on about families” because its an area the Tories are trying to monopolise but in reality are just dealing with married couples.
Nick is dealing with it head on in a liberal way
Tax children, I say – don’t help the people that make them. They’re negative externalities, the carbon-emitting little fiends.
Subsidise single 20-somethings, too. Right on.
Gadgie – why counter support for an English Parliament? Would it be better to support such legit calls?
May all the dreams in your eyes, all the desires in your heart and all
the hopes in your life blend together, to give you the most spectacular
New Year ever. Happy New Year
“…all the desires in your heart…”
Yes please, I’d especially like these.
Talking about families is perfectly sensible.
Most people care more about their family than they do about themselves as an individual.
When talking about families it hard to see any politicians from all sides of the spectrum not only agree but say the same message. How many times have you heard from the Tories, Labour and LibDem about more money for families? Unless it is backed up with actual specific policy commitment and how this is costed it can be empty rhetoric. The biggest thing here is scrapping ID cards which has been a long LibDem campaign and campaign against advertising aimed at kids – which I think is a minor issue at best.
Not bad, some good solid policy stuff in there, which he needs to develop further.
So he still pecks at the edges of the combined NuLab and civil service machine instead of going to the heart of its problems…
