I think the Green Tax Switch campaign nationally was a good message, but we've fallen back from promoting it at a local level (at least, here in Cambridge). In fact, we've got some hard questions to answer... such as: did the names Nick Clegg and Vince Cable feature even once in our election leaflets and papers? I think we've got a great body of policy nationally, but we don't take the opportunity to link issues to national policy in our local campaigning. This country, by now, and given our resources on the ground, should be able to say "the LibDems want to tax pollution, not people; wealth, not work." I couldn’t agree more Andrew. Work is undoubtedly the best route out of poverty, yet we continue to tax it. Our tax shifting agenda (from productive work to wealth and waste) is without doubt the right way to go. I just wish our party's leadership would grasp the overwhelming logic of this in relation to the supposedly sacred cow of LIT - and start sharpening the knife. Couldn’t agree more Neale.
