Slough electoral fraud update (UPDATED)

Written by Mark Pack on 11th April 2008 – 10:40 am

Last month a special election court ruled that Eshaq Khan (who has since been expelled from the Conservative Party) and his supporters carried out “corrupt and illegal practices” to secure his election in Slough. The police have now charged four men with electoral fraud offences.

UPDATE: A fifth man has now been charged.

  • David Boothroyd Says:

Out of the four charged, one has the same name as Eshaq Khan’s seconder, and another has the same name as an assenting elector for Eshaq Khan.

  • Sid of Slough Says:

Another of those charged is the nephew of Conservative Cllr Aziz, and shares a house with him. Cllr Aziz has so far escaped criticism within the local Tory party, having been reselected to contest the elections.

Since he is one of 5 of Eshaq’s team who have not been expelled, and as the Judge stated that 3 of them were fraudulent (but it could not be shown exactlt which 3), this has the potential to run and run.

  • Mal Says:

Interestingly, three Conservative candidates in the Slough Council Elections reside in the same road (Wellesley Road) in Central Ward. One being Cllr Aziz. The others being Sumander Khan (defeated in 2006 as sitting councillor in Central Ward) and Muhammad Umar Majeed standing in lieu of the disgraced and disbarred Eshaq Khan.It makes you think !
