It is clear that Ros has worked hard and half of me wishes her well - effort does deserve reward. I fear, however, that if elected we will see a party organised like her campaign (ie very clubby and establishment and lacking in vision). I would encourage anyone voting to look at the websites of the candidates and think if Ros has the approach that is going to lead to a breakthrough. If we are to break the Tories in my area (West London) we need an Obama style vision not more of the same. Unless something changes I will deliver another 10,000 Focuses next year like I did this with a scrappy message that look rather like the literature that came from Ros with the voting slip.

I would encourage Ros to look at Chandilas web site and literature to look at how we should be operating. I doubt that Chandila will win but he will get my vote and maybe Ros (who I guess will win this time) could get some ideas to help avoid us sleep walking into a situation where a rise in the Tory vote leads to a significant loss of the seats that were won in 1997. The defence of these seats has to be our number one priority.

Happy to give you my support, Ros, and I hope other members will sign up now after reading this. We need an active, energetic President with a fresh, membership-based approach. Good Luck!

Wonderfully clear and direct statement of priorities - building membership (how often do we preach that local parties and representatives are only sustainable if we have a critical mass of membership - and why expect nation position to be different?) and nurturing/sustaining party structure.

M'Lud TG is right about council background - anyone who has survived (or even thrived) in that thankless and unforgiving environment certainly has the skills for the Job. I'm 4 Ros

How good it would be to have a Party President whose experiences in the party were founded as a councillor (indeed a council group leader and ?joint/deputy leader of a large council.

Tony Greaves

PS Sanity and ocmmon sense are also useful assets.

Excellant. You have my vote for sure, far more so than any person whose egocentrism would be detremential to the party or somebody who regards the 'concept' of card-carrying membership as being 'tired'
