Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #31

Welcome to the 31st of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (16th-22nd September), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed.

And it’s all a little less conference-dominated than I expected. Here you go, in descending order of popularity:

1. Extraordinary rant from Fiyaz Mughal on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog! blog.
A typically trenchant post from this year’s winner of Blog of the Year.

2. The shameful truth behind Donnachadh McCarthy’s demise on Anders Hanson’s blog.
A good fisking of a tedious article.

3. Janet Street-Porter wants a knee trembler. Apparently. on Andrew Hinton’s Mindrobber blog.
An excellent rant: “people really can’t be bothered to have to actually listen to what politicians say and work out which one they agree with. They want charisma and rhetoric to make a decision for them. Surely that’s not a healthy desire?”

4. London Mayoral Hustings on Anders Hanson’s blog.
The first London hust took place in, erm, Brighton. Obviously.

5. EXCLUSIVE: why this blog is called Quaequam Blog! on James Graham’s, erm, Quaequam Blog! blog.
At last an answer – well, as close as we’re ever going to get to an answer. James, you old tease!

6. The Guardian wet themselves on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
The lowest of low-points of this week’s shabby media coverage of the Lib Dem conference.

7. A few photos from the Glee Club on Jonathan Wallace’s blog.
You lot are just so high-brow. See also 12., below.

And here’s another five which tickled my fancy:

8. Not in Brighton on David Morton’s Republic of Hyde Park blog.
Explaining why party conferences exist. Apparently it’s not all about sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll policy debates.

9. Day 2452: It’s about Freedom; It’s about Trust on the Very Fluffy Diary of Millennium Dome, Elephant.
Conference highlights in Millennium’s inimitable style.

10. The Brighton Conference Diaries – part four (Press coverage of Ming and immigration) on David Nikel’s The Golden Side of the Moon blog.
Taking time to fisk the BBC’s ranting message boards: that’s some dedication.

11. United in respect on the fringe on Don Liberali’s Liberal Mafia blog.
The best and funniest account of the Clegg v Huhne Indy debate at conference.

12. Lembit Opik MP at the Glee Club on Jonathan Wallace’s blog.
You’ve only yourselves to blame if you click on the link.

That’s it for another week. Happy blogging.
