Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #41

Welcome to the 41st of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (25th November – 1st December), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed.

Well, Saj Karim’s defection did at least achieve one thing – it knocked the party leadership contest off the Golden Dozen top spot. Here, then, are the top-rated stories in descending order:

1. Sajjad Karim defects to Tories on Lib Dem Voice
The story might have dominated the blogosphere; it barely rated a mention on the inside pages of most of the press.

2. Is Sajjid Karim as big a scumbag as he is being made out to be ?
on Nich Starling’s Norfolk Blogger.
An uncharacteristically restrained headline from Nich.

3. EXCLUSIVE: London LibDem Leadership Hustings Report and my Voting Intentions on Gavin Whenman’s The Whiskey Priest.
With EXCLUSIVE photos, EXCLUSIVE insights, and an EXCLUSIVE exclusive.

4. American View of the Clegg-Huhne Hustings
on Antony Hook’s blog.
Psyching out the two leadership candidates.

5. Karim defection on Paula Keaveney’s blog.
A good question: why did the (few) journalists who reported this story not dig a little deeper to find out what might have motivated Saj’s defection?

6. Karim defection a blow for Nick Clegg?
on Jock Coats’ Jock’s Blog.
Sorry, Jock, but the phrase ‘tenuous headline’ springs to mind.

7. So Saj Karim MEP is off on on Stewart Arnold’s The Yorkshire Guidon.
More in sorrow than in anger.

And here’s another five well worth reading (if you haven’t already):

8. BNP debate at the Oxford Union: an eyewitness account
on Jonny Wright’s Hug A Hoodie blog.
A gripping eye-witness account of David Irving’s controversial talk to the Oxford Union.

9. Vince’s Very Good Day on Charlotte Gore’s Memos.
It is now actually compulsory to include at least one blog posting in praise of our acting leader in the Golden Dozen.

10. Not candidates but leaders: The London leadership hustings on Tom Papworth’s Liberal Polemic.
A very fair-minded account of the London hustings.

11. The Liberal Democrat Leader
on James Oates’ Cicero’s Songs.
Also a very fair-minded account, as James makes up his mind how to cast his vote.

12. Lord Bonkers’ Diary: Clegg and Huhne (or is it Huhne and Clegg?) on Jonathan Calder’s Liberal England.
And the old chap’s in fine fettle as ever.

Remember, there’s just a fortnight left of the leadership contest, and half the membership has still to vote, so… happy blogging.

* Stephen Tall is writing this last sentence, then casting his vote.

It is a shame that the bloggers are so parachoal. I accept that Karim’s defection is important, but what about the situation in Pakistan, did noone write anything interesting on that?
I mention Pakistan as it is a country with nuclear weapons. There is a real danger that these weapons could fall into the wrong hands, yet somehow the media do not give the matter as much attention as it deserves.
