Damn right there’s nothing wrong about being conservative about the rights that we’ve worked for during the past millennium.

actually speaking as a Brit who lives on the continent (and therefore very pro-europe etc)

there’s nothing wrong about pointing out just how very authoritarian European culture is

European’s are forced to carry ID at all times

European policemen are permitted to carry firearms

I’d suggest that any liberal should be trying to fight against European authoritarianism

It must be said Cameron is a liberal leader of a conservative party

Clegg is an authoritarian leader of an overwhelmingly liberal party

I disagree – the competition you line up for him above is hardly inspiring! And this (Labour) clip misses the real point – the way he dealt with the woman who questioned the wisdom of the German accent. That makes Cameron look more like a typical Tory/Eton/Bullingdon twit. My largely apolitical wife heard it (on Radio Norfolk – 9am news, 16/6), and considered it a gaffe. This is the man who wants to sit down at the EU and G8 and negotiate with German ministers, for goodness sake, – and he can’t avoid comedy Nazi accents? I hope it – and his lame response – makes HIGNFY.

Is this the time to mention Lib Dem leader’s libidos or sobriety?

Probably best not, since the Lib Dems face losing so much at the next election…. Give them their crumbs of comfort.

I think it is more of a cultural reference than a racial one. We’ve all seen the b&w WWII movies and we all knew exactly what he was referring to.

It is too easy to try to make political hay out of an off-the-cuff comment.

If more MPs made pledges that the ID cards were going in the bin guaranteed then I’d not be too bothered about them prefacing it with any sort of comedy accent.
