Eight ways to help Team LD win gold in 2015

The Olympics can be like politics.  The public remember a single moment of triumph or disaster.  But much of the fight to reach the winner’s podium is the years of relentless training.

Parliamentary elections are similar.  Any Liberal Democrat who hopes to become an MP with a half-hearted six month campaign is living in denial.  It takes years, working to build up the local organisation, meeting the electorate, month in, month out.

While Olympic athletes have support from others, ultimately it’s down to their performance on the day.

For the Liberal Democrats, it’s different.  We don’t get an MP by individual effort.  It takes the support of scores, hundreds, and even thousands of people.

The candidate can’t do it on their own.

The other parties are targeting money to try to pick off our MPs.  We don’t have the resources to match them.

But we do have you.  If you’re a Lib Dem supporter and you travel to strategic seats, giving of your time, energy and enthusiasm, you can make a bigger difference than you realise.

This is why an increasing number of regions are starting up programmes of Regional Action Days, where we come together for a day of invigorating campaigning, free food and good company.

Over the next few months, there are eight events.  If one of them is near you, please come.  And there’s a good chance one will be near you, because these are taking place in Wales, and in five of the eleven regions of England.

With these events, we want them to be the best possible experience for you.  So it would be a massive help if you could register or provisionally register, that way we can print the right amount of campaigning material and prepare the right amount of food.  You’ll find links to registration forms for each of the days below.

If you like, you can come for just part of the day.  But please do register or provisionally register.  It really helps with the planning.

Under our brutal election system, there are no silver or bronze medals.  It’s winner takes all.  So let’s make it gold for Team LD in as many places as we can.
