Prime Minister full of bluster but offered little in the way of answers
Responding to the Prime Minister’s warning of a ‘tough’ Christmas and beyond on The Andrew Marr Show, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats Daisy Cooper said:
The Prime Minister’s admission will leave people rightly worried about their loved ones. Sadly, as has become all too common with this Prime Minister, there was a lot of bluster but little in the way of answers.
It is now all the more important for the Government to take responsibility for its failures and deliver a comprehensive strategy to test, trace and isolate every case of coronavirus to keep people safe and prevent new surges.
It is also past time the Prime Minister shared his concerns with the Chancellor. To protect livelihoods in the months ahead, we need to see an extension of the furlough scheme, protection for excluded groups, and new investment to create jobs – especially in the green economy.

A great pity Marr didn’t get Johnson to answer even the weak questions he was asked..On Brexit, Marr even managed to avoid asking Johnson about his ‘oven ready’ WA…
Instead, Johnson smirked and smarmed his way through what passes for a BBC political interview; Marr seemed mesmerised and allowed one of the very few opportunities to grill Johnson to be completely wasted…
Sadly, with such a supine BBC, the only time Johnson is held to account is at PMQs..
I think my old friend Expats is being a bit unfair on the BBC……. It’s somewhat similar to some Lib Dem views on the Guardian. What he should have said is replace Andrew Marr with Eddie Mair….. as happened in 2013. No wonder Johnson is now trying to appoint a Tory Cheer Leader as head of the BBC.
Here’s a search link for the Guardian you tube clip of the famous Boris interview :

It is just me…
it does seem the regional interviews that do nail Johnson aren’t getting the air time they deserve…
Boris Johnson forgets details of hospital spending in car-crash TV interview (BBC Look North)
Getting ‘R’ number below one key to lifting North West restrictions
But then Boris does have form, having fled from an interview with the BBC’s Andrew Neil and one with ITV’s Julie Etchingham back in late 2019. Hannah Miller also seems to have form: Video: Johnson flees Neil – but regional reporter nails him on a football pitch
So perhaps what is needed isn’t some big names, but to let some of the “Young Turks” loose on primetime…
@ Roland Thank you for posting those three items, Roland. I haven’t seen them before.
Having watched Johnson’s evasive ducking and weaving emptiness on this issue I’m just glad I live in Scotland. The interviewers exposed an empty vessel for whom the tide is going out.
