Lib Dem councillor and blogger Mary Reid has issued the following plea, which The Voice is delighted to advertise further:
Lib Dem MP Phil Willis has put down EDM 1935 as follows:
FUNDING FOR BLETCHLEY PARK (20.07.2009)
Willis, PhilThat this House recognises the signficance of Bletchley Park, historic site of secret British code-breaking activities during the Second World War and birthplace of the modern computer; acknowledges that the use of the intelligence gained at Bletchley Park and subsequent related actions of the Allies is said to have shortened the Second World War by two years, saving countless lives; and calls on the Government to provide operational funding whilst the museum is developed for long-term sustainability, securing the site for future generations to visit, appreciate and understand.
Can we please encourage all our readers to urge their MPs – of all parties – to sign it?
So far 5 MPs have signed the EDM in addition to Phil, including Lib Dems Bob Russell and Stephen Williams – so there’s a little wa to go yet…

I’ll be writing to my Labour MP about this – Bletchley Park’s future is far too important to be partisan.
Not much point in pressing MPs to sign this until October. What can we do in the meantime?
