Citizen video journalism to hit the streets of Liverpool

Chris Henry of Winkball.com writes for Lib Dem Voice about the site’s plans to give up to 10,000 members of the public their say on the big three issues facing the country…

This weekend sees the party political conference season continue with the Liberal Democrat Party conference in Liverpool. Much debate will certainly surround this conference after the Liberal Democrats found themselves in alliance with the Conservatives to form a coalition government after the drama of Britain’s hung parliament crisis in May.

With the media storm that surrounds this the party political season, one media outlet will be finding out what the voices of the electorate have to say as opposed to hearing from the powers that be – Nick Clegg and Vince Cable.

It is the aim of UK video website WinkBall.com to interview over 10,000 members of the voting public throughout each of the four political party conferences that will be taking place this autumn throughout the country. A team of over 20 citizen video reporters will be taking to the streets of Liverpool to find out from the public what they think are the three key issues that this government needs to focus on. Beginning their work last week at the Green Party conference, WinkBall continue their citizen video coverage this weekend and work further towards the target of 10,000 interviewees.

All video coverage will be hosted onto one video mega-wall showcasing the many faces of the UK electorate. Citizens will be able to see themselves and find out what other members of the public had to say at www.winkballpolitics.com.

It is their intention to create the largest online political video survey and to present a real and honest insight into the world of UK politics and to find out what really affects the man on the street.
