We’re 18 months from the May 2015 election so I thought it’d be useful to keep a running check on how candidate selection is going in our held and key target seats…
Below is the list as I currently understand it. If I’ve missed re-selections of current MPs or selections in seats where our MPs are retiring or in our top 50 targets, do please say so in the comments and I’ll update the list.

You’re missing a lot of selected candidates there. Off the top of my head Winchester, Weston and Hampstead & Kilburn have all selected.
Julian Huppert was reselected ages ago – one of the first.
Bosworth (re)selected Michael Mullaney about a year ago.
Chesterfield selected Julia Cambridge
Derby North selected Lucy Care
Chesterfield have selected Julia Cambridge, Bosworth (Hinkley & Bosworth) have selected Michael Mullaney. Malcolm Bruce is retiring.
Jenny Willott (Cardiff Central) and Roger Williams (Brecon & Radnorshire) have both been reselected (Roger over the summer, Jenny last month).
Phil Hutty for South East Cornwall and Richard Younger-Ross for Newton Abbot.
Pontypridd – Mike Powell selected (early summer 2013)
Adrian Sanders has been reselected for Torbay, as has Lynne Featherstone for Hornsey & Wood Green.
Former Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross has been reselected to stand for Newton Abbot, which we lost in 2010 after boundary change.
Vikki Slade has been selected to stand in Mid Dorset and North Poole, hopefully to take over from Annette Brooke.
Robin Meltzer selected for Richmond Park. Mike Bell for Weston Super Mare. Maajid Nawaz for Hampstead and Kilburn, Jackie Porter for Winchester.
Mike Thornton will be reselected next month.
Nick Clegg was reselected last November, if I recall correctly.
I have found Don Foster MP not interested in certain subjects. One is international child abduction and retention the other has been problems with my home.
As a pensioner, I have had to put up with bad housing, cold and expensive, the other problem, on childrens issues I will not state further.
That is why I have written so much on international childrens issues, I had to listen and learn for myself. You have no contact s in this All Party.
Ed Davey was re-selected in July. Think Stephen Williams has been as well.
Hereford and South Herefordshire is Lucy Hurds
Cornwall SE is Phil Hutty
St Albans is Sandy Walkington
Weston – Mike Bell. Winchester – Jackie Porter (and this is a seat lost in 2010). York Outer – Nick Emmerson. Pretty sure Islington South have selected.
@Helen Dudden
“I have found Don Foster MP not interested in certain subjects … the other has been problems with my home.”
I’m not clear exactly why someone should expect an MP to sort out problems with their home. If we want MPs to be glorified social workers/plumbers then we need to redesign our whole parliamentary system.
First, congrats to all who have been selected – I hope you do well and enjoy the experience even if you don’t get elected, by standing you’ll gain a lot, so well done.
Second, Helen’s comment is well, misplaced – don’t understand why she entered it here at all.
Third, LibDems – keep up the great work you do in Parliament and in your local communities. It’s tough taking decisions that are guaranteed to receive criticism and adverse comment at all levels but, you have all proven why the country is better off with LibDem input and influence. It isn’t said often enough, but you really do make a difference!
Mike Ross has been selected in Hull North
@ Simon Shaw. We expect our MP’s to be interested in problems that should concern them.
As I study law, I can assure you I do know the difference between a plumber and an MP.
Do think that I am not that educated?
Heh. I love that Stephen has opened himself to LOADS of editing here… Presumably this list is a WIP. ETA for updates?
Many thanks, everyone, for the updates – here, via Twitter, FB, email and text! Thanks especially to those who provided names rather than those saying “You missed a bit” 🙂 Away from computer atm, but will do proper update later.
Lucy Hurds was selected for Hereford & S. Herefordshire on 1st March this year.
Jo Swinson was reselected in March.
Visitors to this site may be interested in my candidates list for the 2015 general election and my LD target list which is slightly more extensive than the one on UKPR:

Mike Moore is the MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, not Tweedddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale that was his old seat
Both Tom Brake and Paul Burstow re-selected months ago
On my list I also have Jon Ball selected in Ealing Central & Acton, and Terry Stacy in Islington South & Finsbury.
I currently have 15 LD MPs as being reselected, which is one more than in the list above.
Bob Russell has been reselected.
There are a number of seats on that list which are no more serious ‘targets’ in 2015 than is the target of cycling to the moon. A few others in the list i think we might seriously win.
I admit that I don’t really follow this aspect of Lib Dem politics, but I was surprised to notice that Evan Harris was not making a return at Oxford West and Abingdon. I have a lot of respect for Harris, who always appears to be very principled, consistent, honest and thoughtful. Is he likely to attempt to return to parliament, or is there something I’ve missed?
Lorely Burt was re-selected in Solihull about a month ago.
http://lorelyburt.org.uk/en/article/2013/731332/lorely-burt-mp-delighted-with-solihull-re-selection
Also, Oldham E&SW will probably be further down the list now. The 103 majority was the 2010 result, but Lab now has a 3,500+ lead after the by-election.
Gordon Birtwistle was re-selected.
Greg Mulholland was re-selected in November last year
@Ben By-elections are nice, but for this kind of figuring you want to know what might happen at a general election, so the best guide figures are the previous general, not the by-election
@Peter Watson – for the time being Evan has decided that he wants to concentrate on the various issue based campaigns and organisations he has an interest in such as Hacked Off and Sense About Science. He is still very actively involved within the party on policy development etc. and is being very supportive of our excellent new candidate in Oxford West & Abingdon, Layla Moran.
The extent of the corrections shown above doesn’t suggest that the central party is very, well, err, organised!
The list of top 50 seats makes fansty football look sensible
@johnmc
To be fair, Stephen (and LDV) is not the ‘central party’ – the above is a list of candidates as “[he] currently understands it”.
On my list I have 21 LD MPs as having been reselected, which is 6 more than the list above shows.
I think the other 6 are as follows: David Ward, Martin Horwood, John Leech, Gordon Birtwistle, Tom Brake, Lorely Burt.
Above comment is correct, Lorely has been reselected. Also the list of lost seats has omitted Hereford & S. Herefordshire held by Paul Keetch 1997-2010 before being lost to the Tories
Many thanks for subsequent updates, folks, hopefully now all reflected in the post.
