They just saw Guido’s article, and didn’t even bother to follow his link to LDV to find out what was the reference to Grant Shapps about before jumping in conclusions. That’s quality journalism and value for you tax money.
I was thinking of emailing the BBC, but just took a deep bretah and quietly counted to four, as I am sure Grant Shapps will be in touch with the BBC to correct their error.
Appears to have been corrected on the Beeb site now.

It’s typical of the BBC to make a correction but not acknowledge it.
James is quite right that the BBC make Winston Smith style changes to stories when they get something wrong. What’s more they do that then don’t actually thank the person who pointed out the error to them in the first place!
