As we all know, the Holocaust is not a lie. Those of us who have friends who are survivors and who know of family members who died in Auschwitz-Birkenau or Bergen-Belsen know that it is not a lie. I am all for the children of all nations being taught about the Holocaust but they need to be taught the truth and taught in a good way. The irony is that many of the Israelis (not all) have forgotten their true heritage and the reason why they are in Israel in the first place which was to give them a refuge from Nazi persecution in Europe and have a homeland. This did NOT give them carte blanche to displace the indigenous inhabitants! However they argue the case, the Palestinians were there first. They have persistently and consistently stolen land from the Palestinians, raised their villages and rendered them homeless. Basic rights as human beings are being denied them – those of shelter, food, warmth, good health-care and dignity – there is no end to their breaches of Human Rights. They are treating the Palestinians in a despicable manner, displacing them and their families and treating with with great cruelty. Will the killing never stop? Have they learned nothing from their own history? Obviously they see no relation between the two.
Hamas plan to teach children about the Holocaust? That is not in itself a problem surely? What are they planning to teach them about it?
Are they REFUSING to teach about it? That would make the quote you’ve used make more sense Mark.
