Have you tried the #ldconf Networking function?

You know how when you are at a physical conference and going from event to event you randomly bump into people and end up chatting? There is an alternative to that at the virtual Conference.

There’s a Networking tab on the left hand side of the screen. If you click it, you will end up talking to a random conference attendee.

I had a few minutes to spare between fringe and this afternoon’s debate so I tried it out – and ended up chatting to an old friend, Lucy Care from Derby, who gave me her permission to take our pictures to share.

Why not try it out?

I will use it again and I hope to meet some new people as well as catch up wtih old friends.

I am loving the networking function – meeting lots of people for the first time

I’ve used the networking button several times, the first in my incompetence in error, but what a nice surprise to meet someone where we were really pleased to share information about interests that met. I’ve done several more and it has been really good to meet a few and have a chat. At my first conference in 1982 I didn’t know anyone, and was surprised and grateful that anyone had a chat. Now I know lots, and look forward to meeting twice a year it is maybe too easy not to spend time with those I don’t know.
There is a rich collection of wonderful people in our party. I look forward to meeting more today.
