Powys’s County Times has noted the sudden spate of spoof websites linking some 90 Lib Dem MPs and candidates to the Nazis:
Every Lib Dem MP in the UK has fallen foul of one political blogger, who goes under the tag ‘Illiberal Democrat’, and has created a series of blogs which appear to link the party to Naziism. Both Powys MP’s are Liberal Democrats, and both have their own page filled with anti-liberal propaganda and Swastikas.
Roger Williams MP, Brecon and Radnorshire, was quick to condemn the blogs: “I think it’s rather pathetic and rather purile for someone to soil our names in this way. If this is the level of political opposition we face then it will be a very negative general election for everyone.” …
… its pages contain various anti-liberal slogans and computer generated images, including Chris Huhne MP, Lib Dem home affairs spokesperson, sitting on the toilet and Nick Clegg, party leader, superimposed into the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ car with a Swastika daubed on the side and a blow-up sex toy in the passenger seat.
The sites are the work of a blogger with the username, ‘Illiberal Democrats‘, who is also the author of such weighty online tomes as Nick Clegg=Neil Kinnock and LibDems.
As a spokesperson for Lembit Opik notes,
This page has obviously been created by a crank and isn’t going to harm us. I can’t see floating voters deciding against voting Liberal Democrat based on looking at this site, as ridiculous as it is.”

Sensible attitude from Lembit, there’s no point getting wound up over something so insignificant. It would only generate more publicity for the sites if they did.
It is the work of a troll who regularly posts on politicalbetting.com.
Lembit’s spokesperson is correct to dismiss him a crank; the only shame is that the Powy’s Times has given him the oxygen of publicity.
Damn you Grant Shapps. Will you never end your ceaseless attacks?
“created by a crank and isn’t going to harm us.”
Harsh, harsh words.
But can the spokeswibble say the same of his boss, Mr Opik ?
Er… what?
Anyway I don’t understand how “crank” is anything other than fair comment against someone who’s behaved like this.
Opik’s spokesman takes the right attitude.
Williams comes across as a pompous ass.
I believe the Tory supporter behind these vile sites also uses the name Martin Day. He once complained about Lib Dem dirty tricks.
@david
more of a labour entryist; was barred from the tories I understand.
@calais
He’s got some vile anti- labour sites too, so I doubt it. I recall he mentioned working at ‘Smith Square’ (and the toilets smelt of fish!); he may have worked for a company located in Smith Square, but my guess is we once worked or still works for the…………
you don’t have to be tory to express real hate for the brown gov. see labourhome and even labourlist
