I’m just breaking into our festive break to offer our congratulations to the four Lib Dems honoured by the King in the New Year’s Honours.
Tilly McAuliffe, the Party Treasurer with the job of bringing the money in, gets a CBE for parliamentary and political service. I first met Tilly at Autumn conference in Glasgow either 12 or 13 years ago. She is bright, engaging and she gets things done and I’m thrilled to see her work recognised.
Peter Dunphy was a brilliant chair of the Federal Finance and Resources Committee when I was Scottish Party Treasurer. We worked together really well – though I first knew him back in our student days. It’s in his role as the “Chief Commoner” of the City of London Corporation, a role which apparently dates back to 1444, that he gets his MBE though, for services to Amenity Conservation and to Volunteering.
Susan Goodchild is a Lib Dem Councillor in Central Bedfordshire gets an MBE for her services to local government.
Finally, Simon Taylor from Bath Lib Dems, who I believe was Wera Hobhouse’s agent in last year’s General Election gets an OBE for political and public service.
Congratulations and thanks to all four for all they do to serve their communities and the party.

“I agree with Caron” – all thoroughly well deserved !
Thanks Caron – I enjoyed working with you – even though times were tough between 2012 and 2018 !
Congratulations all, but especially to Peter Dunphy who I’ve known for over 40 years.
