Live this evening – Nick Clegg’s “State of Mind”

It’s one of those headings where the speech marks are essential …

Nick says he wants to “lift the lid on what it is like for the one in four people in the UK who suffer with mental illness”. He will be hosting a programme this evening on LBC in which he will interview people with mental health problems and those who support them, followed by a Q&A.

You can watch the programme live at 7pm today.

I am a proud Liberal Democrat tonight having listened to this programme. I recall his efforts on this issue within his shadow criminal justice brief and attended the workshops he did at Conference some years ago when he invited along people who had been affected. He is a politician who has made it his business to get alongside people and engage with them. The fact that so many young people took the opportunity to call in with their advice and experiences was the most important to me. They spoke with wisdom and insight. As a practitioner within the NHS for many years I do appreciate the significance of this. Well done Nick!
