Nick Clegg keeps it brief in his weekly email despatch to members and supporters (which, kudos to Lib Dem HQ, pinged into my inbox at the precise moment Nick’s conference speech finished) — building on the party’s victory at Eastleigh, he urges party members to “Tell our side of the story and keep winning.”
I’ve just had a wonderful three days with Liberal Democrat members at Conference in Brighton.
Until today, I have spent nearly three years asking you to hold firm. Three years urging you to remain steady under fire. And you have.
But in my speech today, I gave you a different message: Win.
Get back out there. Tell our side of the story. And we will win again – on the doorstep, in town halls, in Government. Keep fighting for what we believe in. Keep winning. Building a stronger economy, a fairer society, enabling everyone to get on in life.
Best wishes,
Nick Clegg

What does he mean “Keep Winning”. All that has happened since he became leader is that losing. Even before the coalition by 2010 we had less representation at any level that had faced elections under Cleggs leadership than before he took over.
@Hywel, it depends where you live, we have a LibDem MP and have gained council seats since the GE. Marginal seats depend on where the balance is, I would be worried in a Labour LibDem marginal in the north of England but in the South it all depends on the incumbent and feet on the streets.
I generally support the coalition, more as a thing of necessity than anything else, but think that the party’s London bubble needs bursting. There may be winning going on south of tbe Severn, but it doesn’t help those of us to the north!
Peter – of the 26 Council areas with a Lib Dem MP which have had elections since 2010, 19 have lost council seats
“I’ve just had a wonderful three days with Liberal Democrat members at Conference in Brighton.”
I wonder whether the feeling was mutual?
“Keep fighting for what we believe in. ”
Lib Dems overwhelmingly believe that secret trials are wrong, period.
Nick Cleff does not.
So Lib Dems should fight. ………
^Of course not.
