The story actually broke on STV, the Scottish TV channel.
Best online coverage at the moment is

– which I picked up from Jo Swinson’s Twitter.
The BBC is reporting that Martin will resign his seat, with the by-election expected in the Summer.
Michael Martin will have to resign his seat, because convention requires that the Speaker abjure political partisanship for life. There is also a convention that a retired Speaker is given a peerage. It will be interesting to see if that particular practice is observed in Michael Martin’s case.
Can I be smug (please) and say I predicted as much yesterday.
