From the Wells Journal:
WELLS MP Tessa Munt has shared naked men with leading Liberal Democrats in Parliament – in the form of naked calendar Legends of Somerset.
Her party leader, Nick Clegg, and fellow MPs David Heath of Somerton and Frome, Don Foster of Bath, Simon Hughes of Bermondsey and Old Southwark, David Laws of Yeovil and Jeremy Browne of Taunton, all agreed to have their photo taken with the hit charity calendar.
The calendar is being sold here to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Here’s how it got off the ground:
On the 22nd of September 2013, photographer Jason Bryant wrote this on his Facebook wall:
“Need a model to recreate the American Beauty picture – over 18 and blonde please. Contact me if you fancy it, the shoot will be in 2 weeks time.”
Jason was contacted by lots of attractive ladies and one was selected. Her name was Ashton Porter from Street in Somerset, the model who inspired ‘The Legends of Somerset’ (the picture on the back page of this calendar). This photograph was shot at Bob Wadey’s orchard at West Lydford in Cider Apples on the 5th October 2013 and made it into ‘The Times’ on Saturday 12th October 2013.
During the resulting Facebook conversation it was suggested by Doug Siddons that a calendar should be done of balding males over 50 and before Jason knew it, Derek Cooper had agreed with Doug and had roped Jason into doing the pictures.
The title would be ‘The Legends of Somerset’ and although not everybody in the calendar is over 50 (especially Wells Rugby club’s Rich Hickman – who only looks 25!!), they are all Somerset Legends of the highest calibre.

“Tessa Munt has shared naked men with leading Liberal Democrats in Parliament”
I love this quote with a fiery passion.
Taken out of context, that sentence has a rare beauty.
We aim to please. I couldn’t resist leaving that gem for you to find.
*wonders if there are bearded naked legends of Somerset*
Four of them do not appear to be balding in any meaningful sense (unless they’re wearing wigs, perhaps a reference to our party’s origins) and one has clearly been photographed upside down.
