Was he standing with his hands in his pockets at the time…?
Ali’s comment had us Burnley folk POSL.
But another prize is surely due to the more unlikely of the two Burnley independents. Our own campaign was for some time concerned about the money behind the more serious independent. Much fuss was made in campaign HQ (the room next to the coffins) about countering his ability to split the vote whilst withholding from him any credibility. In 2005, such a split cost us several thousand votes. In the end all our efforts were unnecessary. Following a private conversation between Wealthy Independent and Unlikely Independent, Unlikely Independent wrote in the exceptionally popular Burnley Express, “He has told me privately that he expects to come third.”
Kaboom!
Is that quote accurate? Are you sure his opening words weren’t “I talk b………..”???
And put into print in his own words in the local paper (it might have been understandable as a verbal slip in a speech!)
