Welcome to a series where old posts are revived for a second outing for reasons such as their subject has become topical again, they have aged well but were first posted when the site’s readership was only a tenth or less of what it is currently or they got published and the site crashed, hiding the finest words of wisdom behind an incomprehensible error message. Today’s is quite simply, still, the best headline in a Labour leaflet – ever:
Courtesy of the Hull Labour Party, from the May 2008 elections. You can’t really argue with that headline can you?

I can arguably better that . I’ll try to get a scan of the one I have in mind. That did not have the positive this one has – that it is intriguing and gets a second take. I could also produce a stream of Lib Dem tweets comparing a rival candidate .. to a horse.
These diversions will not work however. Lib Dems across the land will be putting out leaflets explaining “I am not a Tory” but they’ll have a job persuading people of the veracity of their claim.
Looks intriguing, but at that size it is impossible to read the context of the headline.
Is there any chance of providing a link to a decent-size version?
If you google it, you find what it’s all about:

I can’t help but think of the Thick of It here; I wonder if that was a reference to it.
What is he then?
A donkey perhaps?
Maybe he’s a mule?
Here’s an election poster that I find rather amusing…

@ Nige – what I like about that one is that it’s quite true!
My libdem candidate had “the only party that can beat the tories”
@Jane – yeah I’ve seen something similar, makes you wonder if it was all tongue in cheek and the upper echelons of the party knew something the rest of us didn’t, mind you, by the look on CKs face in the ‘bombshell’ poster above……..
