In the next few days, a relaunched version of Ad Lib magazine will be landing on all Liberal Democrat members’ doorsteps.
It has been redesigned in accordance with feedback received from subscribers. It’s bigger, brighter and bolder than before.
This issue contains a feature on the manifesto written by me, an in-depth feature on why canvassing is so important. I’m pleased to see that as I think the conversations we have with people are going to be more important in this election than the leaflets. I know that’s a controversial view, but I know that you need to have the conversations before the leaflets can have an impact.
There’s also an in-depth study on the evidence behind the free school meals policy, an article on community environmentalism, and a profile of new Liberal Democrat peer, longstanding local councillor and ALDC stalwart Kath Pinnock.
Once I’ve got my hands on it, I’ll give you a more detailed review.

I had this vague feeling thatI hadn’t had an AdLib for some time (when LibDem News folded I had enough subscription left for more than a year of AdLib). On The whole I’m not very enamoured with journals (and conference agendas) in the A5 format, though I realise that this may be encouraged by the Royal Mail tariffs.
So a welcome for a bigger page size.
Liberal News / Liberal Democrat News managed to keep going for 70 years or more by providing sufficient numbers of party members with something that they valued and were happy to pay for.
AdLib struggled along for about a year and I have yet to speak to anyone who could find much value in it at all.
What proportion of AdLib readers are like Ian Sanderson and me and simply getting AdLib because a subscription to Liberal Democrat News was hijacked ?
Instead of getting a newspaper which reported on and discussed issues of importance to party members we got something that features recipes and the sort of interview with “famous” Liberal Democrats that would be more at home in HELLO magazine.
How long do we expect the “re-launched” AdLib to survive? Are there any plans for any after 8th May 2015 ?
I too was wondering why I hadn’t received a copy for a while.
I did prefer Liberal News, and having it every week. Would like it back.
