Happy Birthday to us!

Lib Dem Voice was launched 20 years ago today, on 27th August 2006.

In that time we have published 38,490 posts and 530,761 comments, and each has been lovingly read and edited by our team. Our Founding Editors were Mark Pack, Rob Fenwick and Will Howells and they were joined in by Stephen Tall and Richard Huzzey. You can see a full list of current and past editors here: The Liberal Democrat Voice team.

Over the years more than 3000 people have contributed posts. Our current Editor, Caron Lindsay, has penned an astonishing 4311 posts for LDV, just beating Mark’s 4106.

Here are a couple of memorable posts from the past:

We have marked the passing of some great and interesting politicians.

April Fool’s posts have hoodwinked a surprising number of (presumably) rational Lib Dems.

Give parents the absolute right to choose the school their child should attend. All schools must offer places to all the children who apply. The maximum permissible class size will rise to 50. Older pupils may be used as teachers’ assistants in larger classes. Individual desks with lids and storage for books will replace group tables in order to fit the children in.

So if you have enjoyed Lib Dem Voice over the years do please consider supporting us financially. We are dependent on you, dear readers, to cover our tech costs. This is a large website so we can’t do it for free! Please donate here: Donate.

* Mary Reid is a contributing editor on Lib Dem Voice. She was a councillor in Kingston upon Thames, where she is still very active with the local party, and is the Hon President of Kingston Lib Dems.
