Here’s a conundrum for a Lib Dem Voice editor. On the one hand, we do our best to cover all the news stories relating to the Lib Dems; on the other, we do our best to remain free of tittle-tattle, and to promote the liberal idea that people’s private lives should be just that.
So what to do when Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik’s love life once again finds its way into the papers? Should LDV mention that he is, allegedly, beginning to date British model Katie Green? Or should we ignore the story as beneath our gaze? Over to you, dear reader.

Mmmm, I don’t think this is news about the lib dems, just about a couple of celebs, one of whom happens to be a lib dem.
Tbh, I don’t think this is news at all. Man dates woman. It’s happened before.

tbh Lembit has probably resigned himself to being MP for Montgomery and wants to have fun!
If you were the Daily Mail, I imagine you’d say something snide and use it as an opportunity to print photos of the lady flashing lots of cleavage and leg.

You are right Stephen, it is a genuine ethical dilemma. I sympathise with you. My suggestion would be to completely avoid any mention of Lembit whatsoever (it’s all tittle tattle about him anyway) just like you never do statporn.
To be honest, it’s probably useful to know. I know a lot of my non political friends used to chat about Lembit and the Cheeky Girl so at least I now am aware of what’s going on and won’t look stupid when someone mentions it to me.
I wouldn’t dwell on it, though.

I was under the impression that Lembit had decided to put his head away from the showbiz life given how much of a total loser he was making himself look(and his party). He managed to ask a very sensible question at PMQs, things were looking up!
I cannot understand how the magnet of tabloid coverage has managed to remain sewn into his clothes, but the more time it is spent attracting lurid headlines to him, and us, the less credible we look as a whole.
The word “deselection” comes to my fingertips yet again….
