BBC Question Time: open thread

Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy is one of the panellists on tonight’s Question Time (broadcast on BBC1 and online from 10.35 pm GMT).

The panel will also include the First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond, Conservative shadow chancellor George Osborne, Innovation, Universities and Skills secretary John Denham, and businesswoman Nicola Horlick.

  • Thought about the PPB that went beforehand: Osborne looked like a very scared rabbit squinting slightly. And he actually looked like he doubted the autoprompter at the end as he stuttered through “The… Conservatives? are… on your side.”

  • Can’t the British Whinge? It’s interesting that the Tories keep sounding more and more strident though. Osbourne is going to lose it at some point this evening I suspect…

  • Charles just hit the nail on the head re: education.

    Following on from the superb Shirley last week, two consecutively superb Lib Dem performances on QT; added to Nick’s brilliant speech on Sunday and budget response, it’s been a suprisingly good 7 days!

  • For a business person (as opposed to a politician, which is how I read her opening comment) Nicola was pretty much on our side on the issues.

    Certainly on the economy she sounded more like Vince Cable – too much debt, not enough savings and the need to have an internationalist view on East vs West. Also interstingly on Education and Iraq…
