Christmas present ideas from the Liberal Democrat Voice team and friends – Day 4

As we’re untangling the tinsel and dusting off our baubles in LDV Towers, we’re inviting our team and some of our friends to suggest some ideas for Christmas presents which we hope will inspire you.

Today it’s the turn of Yorkshire’s Jennie Rigg who has two suggestions.

First up, it’s Lego Lord of the Rings

Lego LotR has got to be a winner, right? We have Shelob dangling from the curtain rail in our living room and we’re all Lib Dems, and Lib Dems like building things, whether that’s winning election teams or miniature battle sets (and seriously, the number of Lib Dems who are Games Workshop types…). So yeah, I think this would go down well as something to do with one’s hands while watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special.

And then unashamed promotion of my current obsession:

Sleepy Hollow is totally made of awesome. It has weirdness, sarcasm, fish-out-of-water comedy, time travel and beardporn. What’s not to love?

Not to mention the shameless abuse of ellipsis.

There were some bits removed, I think you’ll find:-).

The links in this article have “tag=LibdemVoice-21” in their web addresses. So presumably LibDemVoice is getting a commission through Amazon’s Associates Program, which provides rewards of up to 10% for referrals.

Amazon, if I remember rightly, is one of the companies who pay very little UK tax, because their profits are mostly transferred to a lower-tax jurisdiction like Lichtenstein or Switzerland. Amazon, if I remember rightly, impose working practices on employees that some believe are excessively onerous. Still, I do admit to using Amazon myself, and one of my recent purchases was the excellent book “I am Malala” which describes life in relative poverty and terror ().

Lego Lord of the Rings costs £109, on Amazon
Sleepy Hollow DVD costs £28, also on Amazon

The total is £137, and 10% of this is £13.70. It would be interesting to know what LDV will be doing with the money.
