Lib Dems plan crackdown on City pay (FT.com)

Nick Clegg, the Lib Dem leader, has promised to make reforming the City, including breaking up investment banks and cracking down on bonuses, one of his top four priorities should the Lib Dems emerge from the election holding the balance of power.

The party has launched plans to make sure there can be “no rewards for failure” in the financial system. Mr Clegg said he wanted to see a change in the City of London “as fundamental as the Big Bang of the 1980s”.
