Condolences to Charles Kennedy and his family

The Lib Dems are more of a family than a political party. When one of our number is going through hard times, we all feel for them.

It was incredibly sad to see from Twitter this morning that Charles Kennedy is mourning the loss of his father. Ian Kennedy died last night.

We send our love, sympathy and thoughts to Charles and all of his family. I’m sure it’s a sentiment shared by all of our readers.

Truly tragic. Sometimes nothing can prepare yourself for the loss of a loved one.

Words of sympathy always seem hopelessly inadequate at times of loss, but condolences to Charles Kennedy and his family.

My condolences – you never get over the death of a parent.

I am not normally a libdem supporter – I voted libdem once in my life in the hope of defeating Norman Lamont! But I am really sad to hear of the death of Charles Kennedy. I totally supported his stance on Iraq and thought he was so brave to admit his alcohol addiction. Our country needs more truly honest politicians whatever the party they belong to. The UK is a sadder space without him.
