I’m sure I am not the only one who is not a big fan of some of the stunts we have to pull to get on TV. Still, needs must I suppose. However, do we have to include in these stunts spraying clouds of what appears to be paper tickertape all over a local shopping centre. Hopefully someone involved in that will confirm that some effort is made to clear it all up or it is a material that can be safely left on the ground.
Even so it does not look good and I am sure some of my fellow volunteer litter pickers would have been appalled watching out battle bus launch. So can we please stop doing it before someone makes an election issue out of it. If I was an opposition campaigner, I would have a ‘Liberal Litter Louts’ leaflet standing by at the printers!
Previously I’ve had no interest in such, nothing to do with me in a non target seat with none near me. Something other Lib Dems do.
But this time it was different. I have been phoning for Pippa for some time now, and on Saturday I was asked to invite members in S Cambs to go along to meet Ed at the Battlebus launch whilst I was ringing them about help needed. They were delighted to be asked, and I got caught up in that (yes cynical me). Also S Cambs has welcomed me into some of their Whats App groups, so that added to the interest, and I was keen and privileged to see the action. (yes cynical me).
So it such IS something for us to get a glimpse of, get involved in a target seat and be part of the action. Yes even those of us that are right out on a limb and could be wasting energy on being ignored.
PS I did wonder though – i had been telling the members that if they agreed to having a stakeboard in the garden (those that didn’t have one already that is!) they wouldn’t have to put it up themselves – someone with a big hammer would come along – hope they are not expecting the Battlebus down their road!!
re the litter. I can tell you from the WA group that “backroom helpers” did clear it all up – and have been promised something as a reward!
Love them or hate them they get publicity. They say that there is no such thing as bad publicity.
