EURef: Peace, Prosperity, People – my speech from village hall debates

I’ve spoken for Remain and the Liberal Democrats at over 50 debates in this campaign – in villages halls, church halls, schools, pubs, universities, a science park and even one on a beach.  A lot of party campaigners have been doing this.  Everyone who is prepared to speak for our cause in public deserves a big thank you.

I like to speak without notes so I did not think there was a copy of my speeches as delivered.

But a kind supporter surprised me yesterday. She recorded one of my speeches, wrote it up and put headings in.

Speech:  A Positive Case for Europe – Peace, Prosperity and People.  (PDF)

I have tried by best to make a relentlessly positive pitch.  As we close our case, speaking to our friends, family, colleagues and voters for last time, if any part of my speech is useful to you, I will be very happy.

It has been a privilege to be part of this campaign.

Thanks for all the work you have done during the campaign. Peace, prosperity, people, are three good reasons! It’s actually similar to something I came out with this morning: more peace, more money and more friends. Most the evidence backs remain. So vote to remain.

    Best regards

Just received the racist Leave leaflet with a map of Syria on it. We appear to have been targeted as we have a Remain poster up. Our house was delivered by car with the rest of the street apparently ignored!!

    Good luck all today.

I had an argument with a Leave supporter on social media and the following day I received an email with a virus attached !
