The GMB trade union has started cutting its direct financial support for Labour MPs. It plans to withdraw funds from a maximum of 35 MPs and yesterday announced the first six. Probably of most interest to Liberal Democrat members and supporters is the inclusion of Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods on the list as she is sitting on a majority of only 3,274 over the Liberal Democrats.

How will these Labour Mps react when the GMB uses the same money to save the Labour Party from bankruptcy? Will they be happy bunnies? Will the GMB members who voted to cut back funding for labour be happy?
About time too!
As Akehurst has pointed out this is the GMB being illogical. They don’t support the MPs, they support the constituency parties. Members of the government aren’t in great shape to follow GMB policy as back benchers can. And of course the TU reps on the NEC DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR UNION’s POLICIES!
