Hull: Liberal Democrat take control (UPDATED)

Apparently there are lots of smiling Liberal Democrat faces at the Hull count. Looks like at five gains at least; six are needed for control.

UPDATE: Control of council likely to come down to one ward where there is currently a recount underway.

UPDATE 2: Liberal Democrats take control of Hull. Recount must have gone the right way 🙂

18 Doughty Street is interesting viewing – mind you anything would be better than BBC last year.

Rumour and guesswork from bloggers saying what is going on at counts.

Sort of a TV version of internal party gossip really.

It would be interesting to watch through the evening as to how much advance info they get. The annoying thing about the BBC is they don’t declare the council till all seats are in – or indeed put up any figures.

Plus we might be spared the inane comments about the BBCs (usually inaccurate) “projected national share of the vote” figures.

Coverage lacks a few things – like some graphics but might be worth sticking with given the sad abscence of vote-2007 🙁

Anyway I’m going to bed as I have an exam tomorrow morning 🙁

I take it back – some (Tory) just proclaimed “our group on Eastbourne has been impressive for 8-10 years.

Hmmm – since 1997 the council has been Lib Dem run for 4 of them – including regaining control once!
