IfG interviews former Lib Dem ministers, feat. Browne, Swinson, Hughes, Featherstone, Cable, Huhne

The Institute for Government did a lot of work during the coalition looking at how this (by English standards) unusual arrangement was working, and could work better. Now we have (for now at least) moved beyond coalition, the IfG has been interviewing ministers who served in the last government, seeking their reflections on their time there.

The IfG website has transcripts of a number of interviews with both Conservative and Lib Dem former ministers. The Lib Dems featured are:

  • Jeremy Browne
  • Vince Cable
  • Lynne Featherstone
  • Simon Hughes
  • Chris Huhne
  • Jo Swinson
  • Jim Wallace
  • Steve Webb

The IfG has also now uploaded a series of videos featuring some of those mentioned above, including this entertaining tale from Jeremy Browne about his transition from re-elected MP for Taunton Deane to Foreign Office minister:

    The destruction of the Party followed very very quickly. A desperately sad outcome and one that could have been avoided.

    Nick Taylor. You are wrong. The 1930s saw disarmament and looks what happened. If both sides disarm good but we don't see Putin disarming....
