Yes, ‘the blondest suicide note in history’ has romped home to victory in the Tories’ London mayoral primary. The results were:
The vote was open to all seven million of London’s voters, so it’s good to see a super turn-out of 0.2%.
As LDV reported last week, though, the Tories may just have cut their own throats. And anyone who listened to Boris being interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme this morning might be forgiven for wondering how on earth the Tories think they’ll sustain a credible campaign with Boris at the helm.

Weren’t they chargeing something like a £1.5 to vote in the primary? They must have made a deccent bit of money for their campaign fund out of it.
What alarms me is the thought that there are 1,869 people RIGHT NOW within thirty miles of where I am sitting who voted for Victoria Borwick.
Increasingly, I fear her and her hair.
Be interesting to see how the number of voters compares to the Conservative membership in London. Has their ‘open primary’ just meant that fewer Tory members vote, and no-one else?
So how many people will be selecting the Lib Dem candidate?
Just because we have a candidate who might actually win, unlike the Lib Dems, is no reason to start throwing a tantrum. You should be thanking the Conservatives for putting up a high-profile candidate and giving London a chance to get rid of Ken.
Boris can’t win, he appeals to everyone as a buffoon maybe but only to diehard tories as a politician. As Ming said earlier this is the blondest suicide note in history and it will be interesting to see how Paddick does against him.
Er, but Letters from a Tory, the man’s a joke

Wow! That could have spectacularly backfired.
I think one of the trolls on our LDYS forum put it best.
“If the answer is Boris, it must be a very silly queston”
We need to be careful about rubbishing a high profile Tory candidate when we our candidate whoever it is likely to be an a light weight
Why did none of our high profile members risk fighting Ken?
Could it be because we have given up before we have started?
‘totallylibdem’ at no 10 – I think you need to take a course in disguising yourself more effectively as a Lib Dem – that was really not very convincing!
Going through this thread has been both amusing and pleasing…
