People say that the election in Scotland is pretty hostile. They are right a lot of the time, but in Edinburgh West, where Mike Crockart’s campaign HQ is next door to the SNP base, things are much more civilised, as this Twitter exchange between Mike’s campaign manager and the SNP candidate Michelle Thompson shows:
@MichelleThomson running a campaign based entirely around one photo! Bold. Yet strikingly coordinated. #libdemhold pic.twitter.com/sJnhydaJ8c

@agcolehamilton brand awareness. It's working…#snpwin

@MichelleThomson certainly aware of your taste in knitwear, which is actually quite elegant. See you at the count #muchcloserthanyouthink

@agcolehamilton quality so much better than quantity I feel. Looking forward to count. #6moresleeps

And then Mike got in on the act:
@agcolehamilton @MichelleThomson Knitwear as campaign wear is so under-rated. pic.twitter.com/3rl15vYYv3

It’s freezing cold and pouring with rain this morning, so all the plucky activists in West will need to wrap up warm. But clearly Alex and Michelle should have their own tv show with this quality banter and Mike should head back to stand up for Edinburgh West in Westminster as he has done so effectively for the last five years.
