It’s the Liberal Democrat Blogosphere Wedding of the Year – congratulations to Richard and Alex

I had planned to be in Stockport this afternoon. A bit of a health scare for my poor husband means that I can’t make it but my heart is there with my friends Alex Wilcock and Richard Flowers. It’s twenty years today since they first got together and they are celebrating by getting married. It’s the Wedding of the Year for the Liberal Democrat Blogosphere

Both have been star Liberal Democrat bloggers for some time. Richard won our Blog of the Year in 2010 for his Very Fluffy Diary of Millennium Dome, Elephant. Alex is constantly challenging us to be better at articulating our liberal values on Love and Liberty. Both of these blogs are proper food for the Liberal Democrat soul.

These two are so well suited. They share their passion for liberalism and Doctor Who and are two of the loveliest people you could ever wish to meet.

You can follow the events on Twitter using the hashtag #richardalexwed. It’s certainly fun…

Our Divine Ms Duffett is Best Man. I hope we get to see her speech at some point.

Sadly, some other guests might not make it because of travel disruption between Euston and Stockport.  Apparently some people are having trouble getting to a football match but this wedding is much more important. Let’s hope that they get there even if they are not quite on time.

We at LDV Towers send all our love to Richard and Alex. May today be perfect and may they have many, many more years of happiness, Who fandom and spreading liberal wisdom ahead of them.

Congratulations to them both, fine chaps and fine liberals.

  • I hope the day goes brilliantly well for both Richard and Alex.

I first met Alex slightly more than twenty years ago because we were both at a conference run by The Times and we both shared an interest in republicanism.

If you had told me in 1992 that an equal marriage act would arrive before an English Republic I would not have believed you.

  • Congratulations to AlexandRichard 😉

  • It was an absolutely amazing day, and I felt privileged to be a part of it. You were certainly missed too, Caron!

  • Genuinely not just saying this: best wedding I have ever been to (and I’ve been a bridesmaid six times).

Only sad I had to leave early because of stupid Sunday service on the trains (and it still took more than 3 hours to get home :()

  • Thank you ever so much to everyone who came, to everyone who couldn’t come (lots of lovely messages, especially from Nick, Paddy and Danny who all took time to send words), but most of all to the people who tried to come and were defeated by train chaos, exacerbated by vandalism.

We had a lovely, wonderful, magical day thanks to all the above.

    Love you all
    Richard, Alex and Millennium elephant
